Today, October 1st - National Life Chain Day
The Las Vegas Life Chain is hosting a Life Chain Day event at Baker Park (1020 E. St. Louis Ave., next to Trinity Life Center church). The event will start at 2pm. All welcome! Call 248-1294 for more information.

RCIA/ Confirmation Class
If you are interested in becoming Catholic or would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, please see Fr. Albert. The class will meet every Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Small Bible Study Groups
Tuesday, October 3rd @ 7:00 p.m. lead by David and Thursday, October 5th @ 5:00 p.m. lead by Grant. Join us for Scripture Study, Faith Sharing, and Fellowship. These groups will end in the middle of November. The rest of the small groups will start in the middle of October and run for five weeks.

Wednesday, October 4th—Faith Forum “Papal Protest: An Invitation for Discussion”
The UNLV Interfaith Council is sponsoring a faith forum on “Papal Protest: An Invitation for Discussion,” that will take place in the theatre on the 1st floor of the Student Union, from 11:30am to 12:30pm. The speakers will be Fr. Albert Felice-Pace, OP, and Dr. Aslam Abdullah, Director of the Islamic Society of Nevada. This event will be moderated by Dr. Joseph M Valenzano from the Department of Communication Studies.

Every Wednesday -Tongues of Fire-Praise, Worship, and Fellowship
Come and praise the Lord with song and prayer at the Newman Center on Wednesday September 27th at 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by The Catholic Newman Center and the Protestant Campus Ministry.

Sunday, October 8 - Blessing of the Animals
In honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, Lover of the Animals. Father Albert will bless the animals after the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Fr. Roberto Corral, O.P., the Provincial of the Dominicans of the Western Province will celebrate the 11 a.m. Mass. Please bring your animals for the blessing!

Monday, October 9th -Theology On Tap
The Theology on Tap will take place on Monday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the Stake Out, 4800 S. Maryland Parkway. The group will discuss the second part of Pope Benedict’s first encyclical letter “God is Love”. You can download the letter from the Vatican Website. Open to all Young Adults and young at heart. Family Weekend October 14 and 15
We invite the students’ families to come and enjoy our tailgate starting at 4:00 p.m. before the game. Families are also invited on Sunday, Oct., 15 for the 11:00 am Mass which will be followed by an Italian lunch. After the 7 p.m. Mass there will also be an Italian dinner. The staff would love to meet your families.

Greek Sunday - Sunday, October 22nd
The Staff of the Catholic Newman Center is inviting all the members of the UNLV sororities and fraternities to a special Mass on Sunday October 22nd at 11:00 a.m. More information will be provided.

Social Justice Events
Thursday October 12th - Meet at the Newman Center at 3:30 p.m. to go to the Catholic Charities to serve dinner.
Tuesday October 17th— Meet from 1-3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church across the street from Beam Hall to prepare bags for Senior Commodities.
Sign up sheets for both events are available in the lobby of the Newman Center.

Tabling On Campus
The university allows us to have a table in the student union every week so that we can promote the Catholic presence on campus. We would like to have students to help us in this project. This week we have a table on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Can you give an hour or two each month? Please call Alanna Gallo our Peer Minister for Outreach at 736-0887 ext 101.

Spring Semester Parking Permits Available
Parking permits for spring semester are available at the office from Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Remember first come first served! Please note that possessing a parking permit for this semester does not guarantee you one for the spring semester.

Get Involved
The Newman Community has a number of committees that plan various events. The community committees are social events, social justice, intramural, liturgy, and outreach. If you are interested in being on one of the committees please check it in the registration form.

The Catholic Diocese of Las Vegas Newspaper
After a year without the newspaper, the Diocese now have a newspaper. Copies are available in the lobby. Take one. We have an article about The Newman center in the first issue.

Knights of Columbus
We have enough men to start a round table group for the Knights of Columbus. Soon we will announce the time and day when the round table group will meet at the Center. If any men are still interested in joining, please see Fr. Albert. Watch the bulletin for further announcements.
