Eucharistic Ministers Guidelines
- One Eucharistic Minister is assigned for the 11:00am Mass, and two Eucharistic Ministers are assigned to distribute Holy Communion at the 7:00 p.m. Mass.
- If your name appears first on the list, that means you will prepare the altar. The second Eucharistic Minister will bring the ciborium with consecrated hosts from the tabernacle in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel during "Lamb of God." After the distribution of Holy Communion the second Eucharistic Minister will return the ciborium with consecrated hosts to the tabernacle.
- Eucharistic Ministers should arrive about 10 minutes before Mass starts.
- The Eucharistic Ministers will join the Celebrant and the Lectors at the back of the chapel to pray before the Mass.
- After the Prayer of the Faithful, the first Eucharistic Minister prepares the altar.
- Place the corporal on the altar.
- Place the chalices and two purificators on the altar.
- After the gifts of bread and wine are brought to the altar, bring the water to the Celebrant.
- The Celebrant will pray over the gifts.
- Bring the towel and the bowl with water to wash the hands of the Celebrant.
- After the sign of peace, both Eucharistic Ministers will come to the altar. They stand on either side of the Celebrant.
- The Celebrant will give Holy Communion to the EM. Please wait until the Celebrant receives Holy Communion. Then receive Holy Communion together.
- After you receive from the Precious Blood, take your place to give Communion to the assembly.
- When the distribution of Holy Communion is over, the second Eucharistic Minister takes the consecrated hosts to the tabernacle in the chapel.
- When Communion is finished, put the chalices, the purificators and the corporal on the table behind the altar.
- When Mass is finished, please purify the chalices and put them back in the chapel closet.
- Note: If you are unable to fulfill your assignment, please call for a substitute. A list with al the names of the Eucharistic ministers, their phone number and the e-mail addresses will be provided to all the Eucharistic Ministers.
